There are many opportunities to see interesting and unique attractions in our area. The Root River State Trail, Minnesota's most beautiful paved state trail, is great fun for biking, hiking, and in-line skating. It is groomed during winter for scenic cross-country skiing. The trailhead is located at the Houston Nature Center, a local highlight.

Historical sites of interest include the 150-year-old Stone Church and Schech's Mill. Schech's Mill is a working three-story mill of native stone built in 1876 that has a concrete water wheel pit for milling flour and cornmeal.
